Annie Get Your Gun - Music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and book by Dorothy and Herbert Fields with an updated version by Peter Stone.
‘There’s No Business Like Show Business’ and ‘Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)’ are just two of the show stopping tunes in this whip-cracking musical about the life of sharp shooter Annie Oakley and her time in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. Once again we’re playing on a traverse stage but in a better tent than ever before. Ethel Merman and Dolores Gray initiated the role of Annie in the US and the UK and it has since been played by the likes of Bernadette Peters and Suzi Quatro!
Who will we get? Well, auditions start in a few weeks time and we’re hoping once again to lasso some of the finest talent musical theatre has to offer! When I directed My Fair Lady last year I was aided and abetted by Tracy Collier who not only played a fine Mrs Pearce (Prof. Higgins’ housekeeper) but was also responsible for the choreography. I’ve invited her back to take over the directorial reins this year and we will most certainly be in for a treat in this fun for all the family show.
